Always Leave A Winner!

When I saw the snow outside the window, I knew that it was going to be a good day. I just didn’t know how good it would be.

I’ve been doing a full New Years cleaning and decided to drop off some donations at a local thrift shop. Including some old winter jackets I hadn’t worn in over a decade. Was about to leave the store without checking the pockets, but had this nagging feeling I should. Thank goodness I did. I found $13 dollars! 🙂

Which is also when I realized I left my wallet at home! So that 13 dollars was gonna help me all day as I was running around doing errands.

On my way back home, the beautiful snowfall started to turn into a messy rain. There were puddles all over the floor. As I was a block or so away from my house, I started to think about a candy bar and how I’d stop in for one at my local newsstand. From a distance I saw some crumpled dollars in a puddle on the floor.

I picked up the crumpled dollars. $4 wet dollars. “So lucky! Might as well play the lotto!”

With the soaked money in my hands, I walked into the store and asked for a candy bar and also what kind of scratch off I could buy for the remaining $3.

“Words with friends,” “Spin 3….”
“Ok, I’ll take Spin 3.” 3 dollars for Spin 3, sounds like a sign.

I never gamble, I never buy scratch offs – but in a matter of minutes I turned 4 crumpled wet dollars into a candy bar and $20 bucks.

There is this nagging feeling inside of me that I should have continued playing, but I remembered something my parents taught me long ago. “Always leave a winner.” We are not born winners or losers, we are born choosers. 🙂
