12 Days of Elizabeth Chan Daily Christmas Songs: #12 – Hide All The Toys

I had been writing daily Christmas songs for only a few weeks before I wrote “Hide All the Toys.” At that time, I had a huge audience for the songs. At least a twenty solid people. One of my fans, Joshua Peters – was the first person to reach out to me and had the guts to say to me something along the lines of – Great work. Can you do something different?

At first I was floored because I didn’t know Josh, and I assumed all the people watching me assemble these daily songs were just friends and family. The criticism stung, but I realized how lucky I was to have someone paying attention to my Christmas music! So I happily obliged.

“Hide All The Toys” is one of my favorite songs written this year. It’s a Grinchy type song that helped me explore how to write music for my fans! It also helped me put more of myself out there and was a baby step towards writing what would be dozens of naughty songs this year. The video could also be my first web performance, as I changed clothing and decided to put on my novelty Elvis glasses from the Memphis airport.

So thank you Josh Peters, for being an early fan and early believer in my Christmas world.
