Wow! :) What a day!

Had a terrific day. Got to play on a grand piano, which I haven’t in a very long time. Not since the beginning of Failure Club really. It felt really great. There is something about writing a song on a grand piano that is way different than my keyboard.

Got back home and received a note from a Failure Club fan:

Don’t get discouraged no matter what, Elizabeth. It cracks me up that you got lyrical advice from a guy who worked with Lenny Kravitz. Lenny rocks, but he did pen the lyrics,”I wanna fly so very high. Into the sky. Like a dragonfly.” I hate to break this to a rock icon and your music chum, but dragonlflies mainly hover above motionless ponds. If hits were based on the quality of lyrics, I’m pretty confident “Fly Away” and 95% of everything on radio would not have made it out of the bog. Just keep making music you believe in.

Holy shit. Thank you Markisan for the words of support. That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do. I have a series of songs that I’ve been told are not hits, but didn’t want to just give up on songs that mean something to me and are reflective of my life and the stories I want to tell about the holidays. Like Mike Doughty told me, “Even the chef eats his own soup.” As the chef, must be able to eat my own soup and stick to writing songs I like and believe in. Absolutely! 🙂

I’m really humbled by the people who have felt compelled to encourage me on this tremendous journey. It is really special to me.
