Let’s Clean Stuff

I had had enough with my pens. I have hundreds of pens and for some reason, I had a knack for picking up dead dried out pens. If there is anyone to blame, it is myself for being such a workaholic. As a workaholic, you treasure every second of the day you have to be productive. Grabbing a pen more than once to write something down in a meeting or before you forget a lyric or a note is not productive.

But that won’t happen to me this year.

New year. New slate. That slate will be effortlessly notated with a working medium point blue ink pen that I only had to grab once.

So today, I went through the arduous and menial task of dumping out hundreds of pens in my office and testing each and every one of them. Through my travels I’ve accumulated dozens of pens from around the world, from hotels, bars, offices, meetings. Every time I picked up a pen I would come up with a system of quick analysis to see if the pen had what it took to come with me into the new year.

By the end of this exercise, I had thrown out dozens of pens.

Once I was done with that, I started to eyeball the stack of business cards. Hundreds of business cards, I went through each of them carefully and decided to throw out boxes of cards. From there I went into my filing cabinets. Then t0 my documents, and this went on for several hours.

Before I knew it by the end of the day, my office was immaculate.

As a workaholic, you treasure every second of the day you have to be productive. As an entrepreneur, you want to set yourself up for success and 2015 is gonna be that year!
